Chapel Renovation

Kirchplatz Office and Residence/Oppenheim and Huesler Architekten

An 18th century building in northern Switzerland has been renovated to be an office space and residence.  The entirely interior has been renovated to be the main office and another extension part on the backyard has been built up to connect the old building and use for residence.

The high ceiling chapel has been divided to be many levels to support many functions for office without any wall to separate each space. Furthermore, the new wooden has been designed to connect the old building, on this side of the building has a little courtyard and facing a nice view of a small town down the hill. The interesting part of the building is the private area located on the basement floor but there is a large window and way out connected the courtyard and facing the nice view either.

Solar Power

Swedish Students design passive home powered by the sun

This is another project of green architecture. Swedish students have design a private house with small private rooms and a large entertainment area. The main idea of the project is “to shift people away from the growing trend of social isolation” and using local Scandinavian material such as woods. The mainly part of the house is the roof structure that covered with monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic solar cell on acrylic covered with a high strength polymer. This roof can generate the power for using in the house.

After I have seen this project, I was thinking that the researching on new construction technologies and materials is also important for applying to our design project.

Lighting Experiment

Light touch installation/Haptic

Light touch Installation is the main part of the Working the Land Exhibition of Haptic, an architectural studio. It combines an illuminated walkway with secluded seating area and was designed to demonstrate the craftsmanship that is key to Haptic’s architectural practice.

The movement of different colours are projected through the cabin structure and creating shade of colour on the wall inside the cabin, also emitting smoke to creating the interior atmosphere following the concept of the exhibition “takes its inspiration from the dramatic natural lighting conditions found in the Norwegian landscapes”. This is really interesting exhibition and inspired me to make an experimental Lighting on my project in the future.

Real Green Architecture

Pasona Urban Farm/ Kono Design

The Real green building, Japanese company in Tokyo had idea to create an urban farm inside the building for harvesting and serving in their own employees’ cafeteria. On the double skin façade of the building, Seasonal flowers and orange tree planted within the deep balconies. These plants create the living green wall and dynamic identity to the public.

For interior, several kinds of plantations in different floors entire the building, also the roof garden on the top floor. The interior artificial lighting control need to be concerned to avoid an interfering to the working area. Moreover, an interior climate need a controlling system to monitor humidity, temperature, and air flow to ensure it is safe for the employees and suitable for the farm.

Classical building renovation

Jaffa House /Pitsou Kedem

According to my project, I have found out that there is an existing building appeared on the site. Therefore, I have an Idea to do something with the existing building such as making extension or connection part to it.

This is one of the examples for making renovation for the classic building and recreating both exterior through interior space. An over 100 years old house in Israel has been renovated by making combining the new and old style together. The interior functions were totally recreated without any references from the classical theories. Contrasting between existing stone wall and new materials creating the great combination of modernism rather than classical. Minimalistic construction style reflects ascetic style from the past that reminds me about there are some similarity inside the contrast.

House on slope4

Timrarö Vacation House / Sandell Sandberg

This is another building has been built on the slope and surrounded by natural context. The entire house is wood structure which is the local material and according to the location where in the forest and connected to the beach in Sweden.

The interesting part of this building is large main terrace at the front, this is shown the connection of building space to nature. Furthermore, it is a good idea to have troof deck on the top of the building will be used for observing the 360 degree view around the site.

The contexts of this site is slightly different from my project due to it located on an island hill and connected to the sea, then the climate of this location is totally different  that the main reason for the form of building and materials .

House on slope3

Stepped House Toward the Landscape/05AM Arquitectura

This is the very first of my Idea when I have been assigned to design a house on slope, Stepped house without partition.

Sometimes, partitions or walls are not required for the house. This house on the slope land has been designed to have many different levels to divide the inner space to create variety of functions without wall. This design can let the most efficient natural light passing through entire space without any obstacles, also let the user from any part the building to see an outside views.

From the ground floor and first floor, Entry to the public space the occupant will meet the kitchen, dining room and then to the next level, the living area where the large window was set on this level. On the top level is for the private space such as bedrooms also has no partition. As can be seen, the connection between spaces to spaces created smoothly circulation and flow air ventilation inside the whole building.
